Bangkok - Bangkok's oldest and most beautiful temples and best shopping are located in the city's Old Town area. The city's water taxis make getting to these attractions a breeze. In fact, many of the city's hotels and most beautiful temples are located along the Chao Phraya River. The city has 400 Buddhist temples including Wat Pho, the oldest and largest temple and home of the Reclining Buddha; Wat Phra Kaeo, the country's holiest shrine; and the Temple of Dawn which offers a magnificent view in the night skyline. Bangkok is also home of the Grand Palace, home of the Thai royal family for 150 years.
Cambodia - Most westerners know Cambodia only as one of the three countries where the Vietnam War was fought. And the country has indeed had more than its share of international and domestic civil wars. However, Cambodia had a long and rich history that began in the first century. That history is evident in Phnom Penh, the country's capital city, once called the Pearl of Asia. It can also be seen at Angkor Wat, built during the 600 year rule by the Angkor Empire. During that period, the city-state of Angkor was the cultural and political hub  of Southeast Asia's most important civilizations.
