|Delights of Vienna - Vienna is the most popular urban tourist destination in Austria. Many of its top tourist attractions in the historic district are within and easy walk. In the heart of the historic district is the 12th century St. Gothic Stephen’s Cathedral survived both fire and war but now stands proudly as a symbol of Vienna’s freedom. The 10th century to Schonbrunn Palace was the summer home of the Habsburgs, the most prominent European royal dynasty from the 10th through the 20th century. The interior of the grand baroque 1441 room palace remains essentially as designed by Empress Theresa more than 400 years ago. These are just two of the historic attractions in this Imperial City.
|Mirabell Gardens - The Mirabell Gardens is among the world's most beautiful landscapes. The horticultural masterpiece was opened to the public by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1854. Not only does it have beautifully manicured grounds, climbing perennials and swirling annuals, it has the lovely octagonal Pegasus Fountain surrounded by elements of air, fire, earth and water. It has one of the oldest hedge theaters north of the Alps and is still used during outdoor summer performances, including concerts of the Salzburg Festival. In the Grand Parterre is a goddess for each season and Statues of Roman Gods.|
